Slushy the Cat

One day a little kitten had heard it's first sound in her entire life. She
was just born as she heard her kitten sisters and brothers meowing. This
little kitten wanted to know what was going on, so she also began to meow to.
When she realized she had no idea where she was she began to get scared. Her
mother saw her wandering off trying to find out where she was. The mother
didn't want her to get lost, so she went over to the little cat and picked
her up. The little kitten, her sisters and brothers, and their mother fell
asleep, curling up into one single ball.

The next day, the little kitten woke up. She could see! Finally this cute
little kitten could finally see where she was! She saw that her fur was white. The
kitten saw so many other things to. They lived under a box that was tipped to
the side, right next to a garbage dumpster in what seemed
to be an alley. On one of the bricked building walls, was a red door.
The little kitten looked at this bright red door for a long time, and soon she saw a
man come out of it. He was holding a little dish. It was filled with food.
Of course it was for the mother. Kittens didn't eat food until they were a
little older and they didn't need their mother. Until then the kitten's
would drink their mother's milk.
Anyway, the man who held the dish walked over to the area where the
animal's were sitting and he put the dish down next to the kitten's mother.
She began eating as the man said "Oh! I see you had your kittens!
Congratulations!" and then he walked back into the red door.
The kitten's began to drink their mother's milk and then they played the
rest of the day.

That is the way they lived their lives, until the day came
when the kittens had to leave their mother and their siblings. That day was a sad
day for the kittens. Well, I shouldn't say they were kittens, because they
were no longer kittens!!! They were now full grown cats.
They had no choice to leave their mother, because she wouldn't have anything to
do with them anymore.

The one little kitten that I first talked about, had a bad start in
this world on her own. She couldn't find any food. The man that came out to feed them
everyday, didn't come out anymore. So, the cat left the area in search of a
home. She would paw at doors, but most people would slam the door in her
face saying "Oh my! That cat is so dirty and ugly!" That is when the
she would walk away sadly trying other people's houses. Some people (the
nicer ones) would give the cat some milk and bread, but then they would shoo
her away.

One time, the cat was being chased by a man dressed in blue. He carried a
net and he drove a big blue van. At first she thought he would be
friendly, but she saw that he had captured a cat and put it into that big
blue van he drove away. She decided to keep away from him.
One day the cat was looking at a large butterfly. It was fluttering around
with orange and yellow wings. She thought that the butterfly looked like fun
to chase, so she did! She had so much fun, she let her guard down and was
captured by that man in the blue outfit that had a net.
He brought her to a place with cages that had many other animals in them.
There were dogs and other cats in the cages where the cat was also caged up.
She was sad and wanted her mother.

About a week or two after the man caught her, she had found a way
of escaping this horrible place. She thought that when they came to give her water,
she was going to make a run for it. She was happy that she got water and food

but did not like it here. They always left a door open, and that door led outside!
So, sure enough when the man opened the cage, she ran out of the cage, and
after dodging a few other men, she left the building. Her escape didn't
really go as planned. When she left the building, she slipped on some snow
that had fallen over the past few days. It was turning into a slush, so when
she slipped, her white fur coat became brown and very wet.

The cat looked up and found she was under two peoples feet; a woman, and a
man. These two people were much older, and they looked like they were a
couple. Before the cat could get up and run for it, the man picked up the
cat and the cat heard the woman ask "Is this one an escapee?"
The man who opened the cage to feed the cat said "Yes, she is an escapee."
Then the couple took the cat inside and asked if they could buy the cat. The
building was a pound that kept stray homeless animals!

So, the cat was taken to the couples house and was fed food and milk.

The cat laid down on the carpet and overheard the couple talking.
"We should call her Slushy." The woman requested.
"And why is that dear?" He asked .
"Because, we found her lying in slush when we decided to keep her." she answered.
"Well, Slushy it is, then!" the man agreed. And the three of them lived
happily ever after.

Note From Author - In life there is a time for everything. It can be great
one time and horrible the next. There can plenty and other times very little.
Lots of love and maybe hurtful times when you feel no one cares.
You can at one time feel free and everything works right, but there will be times
when you feel trapped or caged and nothing happens right.
These times are good even if we do not like the bad times. This is when
we realize we need others and most of all we need God. We are humbled
and strengthened through our learning. I am so glad I have
