Faith One

Scripture Verse

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things HOPED for, the EVIDENCE of things
not seen.
(caps mine).

Chapter 11 speaks about the faith of the past,  from Abel through to the time of Paul.

These devotionals on faith are based on true experiences in my life.

I am sometimes amazed by how soon we forget what salvation is all about. We come to the Lord Jesus with great faith and begin to learn to walk in Him through a bunch of maybes and complexities. We come to Him like a child because of His simple statement and grow up in Him with doubt in all the rest He says. The culprit is of course, the evil one, who brings in doubt through guilt.

When I came to Jesus I loved Him because He first loved me. I came to Him because He was willing to forgive me unconditionally, disregarding my past and wrong in my life. I knew me better than any man or woman alive but Jesus came and exposed my sin. Even though He knew of how wretched of a man I was, He accepted me just as I am.

One day I went into a Christian second hand store to buy clothes for my children. I got talking to this elderly Baptist lady who was in charge of sales and had been serving the Lord for many years. I said to her, "Thank you, and remember Jesus loves you". Her answer completely stunned me. She said, "I hope so". I stood and looked at her for a moment because her remark had shook me.

I proceeded in asking her some questions. I asked her when did she come to the Lord. She said she had come to the Lord in the 1930's. I said to her that if she came to Jesus that long ago why did she only HOPE so. I told her I knew He loved me and if I died today He would accept me just as I am because He above all knew my heart even though I still could not live this life without doing something wrong. Even though I am a Pastor I know this, no one needs to remind me. As I ministered to her faith, she broke down and cried and I prayed with her.

My wonderful Christian friends, Jesus is the same today as He was yesterday. He accepted me unconditionally when I gave my life to Him on Feb 28th, 1972. I have sinned many times and I thank God for His gift to me. I love Jesus so much and I desire to know Him as much as He knows me. I long for Him like a thirsty deer longing for running streams. I know He is the Author of life and that there is no mountain too high, no river too deep, no distance too far that could keep His love from me and now nor mine from Him.

I know some religious people will have a hard time with this but no one can ever convince me otherwise. This is the Jesus I grew up to know and when I came to Him, He did not give me no but or if conditions. So I give Him no doubt in return for His wonderful love for me. No man or for that matter, any spirit can take me from His hand. I put my hand to the plow long time ago and I dare not look back. You do the same my friend and I will see you when He comes or when we go.
