A First Taste Of Snow

By Patricia Hayes

How beautiful are the flakes of snow

As they fall to the earth.

Light fluffy tuffs,

Swaying to and fro.

Sparkling in the light.

Their formation can be seen.

Oh How beautiful it is,

To see the falling snow.

Swirls of fluffy snow blown in the wind

Making pretty patterns on the ground.

A pattern forms,

The wind blows,

It's gone.

But another pattern begins.

Icy Snow clinging to the window,

Glistening in the light outside.

Building up in the corners,

Behind the screen.

The wind blows and some disappears,

But beautiful patterns are left,

To give a gorgeous display.

The snow builds up outside.

The doors are hard to open.

Locks freeze and keys refuse to turn.

Can't even see the road,

Lamp poles the only guide.

The drive is covered.

Out come the shovels,

Time to clear the paths and drive.

Oh how invigorating,

Shoveling the snow.

Light drifts of snow fly in your face.

Each shovel full light as anything,

A gentle cool breeze and flying snow.

Wow what a sight.

How invigorating it is,

Working in the snow.

Come inside when you're done,

Hang your coat and gloves to dry.

A hot cup of chocolate to warm your insides,

And your Honey to warm you in his arms.

A cold winters night,

With the snow falling outside.

How beautiful is a Canadian winter.

Oh how blessed I am to be able to experience

This beauty and exhilaration.

My First Taste of snow,

I wonder,

How long will it amaze me.

The beauty I see and feel,

I hope it will last forever.

I love this feeling,

I love the snow.

Especially my Honey's arms

All warm and secure,

When we come home.
